Indianapolis Colts Prediction: Wins, Losses & Playoff Hopes

The Indianapolis Colts have completely taken the league by storm.

They started the season with two straight wins: over the Miami Dolphins, 33-8, and the Denver Broncos, 29-28. Both games surprised NFL fans, as quarterback Daniel Jones has looked like a top quarterback in the league. Jones has thrown for 588 yards and two touchdowns through two games for the Colts. Even more impressive is that he has thrown zero interceptions through two games. His three rushing touchdowns have provided a red-zone presence for the offense.

There is no getting around the fact that the Colts have surprised fans around the league. Now the question is: Will the Colts continue their hot start? We will break down the Colts’ next four matchups!

Game 3: Tennessee Titans (W)

The Colts take the road for the first time all season, as they take on the (0-2) Tennessee Titans, led by rookie quarterback Cam Ward. Although it’s a road game, I don’t expect the Titans to put up much of a fight against the red-hot Colts. Expect another 2+ touchdown game from Jones and the Colts’ defense to feast on the rookie quarterback.

Game 4: Los Angeles Rams (L)

The Colts’ three-game winning streak will end in week four when they travel to Los Angeles to take on Matthew Stafford and the Rams. The Rams’ offensive weapons, wide receivers Puka Nacua and Davante Adams, will overwhelm the Colts’ secondary. At the same time, Jones should have some problems with the Rams’ pass rush, making even the best quarterbacks struggle.

Game 5: Las Vegas Raiders (L)

The Colts will find themselves looking at a two-game losing streak after welcoming the Raiders to town. The Raiders’ offense is seriously underrated with quarterback Geno Smith, tight end Brock Bowers, and wide receiver Jakobi Meyers. People forget that Geno Smith has been a top 12 fantasy football quarterback for two straight years with the Seahawks.

Also, let’s not lose sight of the Raiders’ defense, which is led by defensive-minded head coach Pete Carroll. The same coach who has had a top 10 defense almost every season of his NFL career. I expect a low-scoring, grind-it-out game, which fits into what the Raiders want to do.

Game 6: Arizona Cardinals (W)

The Raiders finally get back into the win column as they host the Arizona Cardinals. While the Cardinals have great offensive prowess, they have shown weaknesses on the defensive side of the ball. Through week two, the Cardinals have faced Spencer Rattler and Bryce Young at quarterback. Jones is much better than both those offenses and can give the Cardinals’ defense grief for the much-needed win.

The Colts Sit at (4-2) Before Playing the Chargers

After a (2-0) start, I expect the Colts to take a slight step back in their next four games. The (2-2) projection through the next four days is no slight on the Colts, but instead an honest observation of their upcoming opponents.

Traveling to Los Angeles to play the Rams will undoubtedly be the most challenging game of their upcoming four-game stretch. Looking ahead, the Colts still play the Chargers, Steelers, Chiefs, and 49ers outside the division. If the Colts win half of those games, they will be a legitimate playoff contender come January.
