Fantasy Football Breakdown: Week 3
Another week is in the books, and man, was it exciting. The first two slates on Sunday were full of exciting endings, blocked kicks, and defensive touchdowns. Even with the defenses and special teams dominating the story lines, many players had breakout performances that led fantasy football owners to big-time wins.
Today, we are breaking down some big fantasy football performances for players across the NFL in week 3.
Jonathan Taylor Dominates the Titans
Jonathan Taylor has proven to be a steal in fantasy leagues through three weeks. He backed up his first two performances of the year, rushing for 102 yards and 3 touchdowns against the Tennessee Titans. Taylor added three receptions for 16 yards in the air to bolster his fantasy football stats. With quarterback Daniel Jones proving he is a legitimate NFL starter, I expect Taylor to continue on the Colts offense that looks like a top 10 unit in the NFL.
Hunter Henry Leads the Charge in New England
New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry had a breakout game in week 3. Henry caught eight passes for 90 yards and two touchdowns. It was clear that Henry was the go-to target for quarterback Drake Maye, who was constantly pressured by the Pittsburgh Steelers’ defense all game long.
With those stats, Henry becomes a player that fantasy football owners need to look for on waivers heading into week 4. He provides the upside at the position that most other tight ends don’t.
Omarion Hampton Takes Over the Chargers Backfield
Chargers rookie running back Omarion Hampton had a career game in week 3. Hampton ran the ball 19 times for 70 yards and a touchdown. Most notably, he added 59 yards through the air on six catches. Hampton’s breakout game mainly came after fellow backfield mate Najee Harris suffered an Achilles injury during the second quarter.
Looking forward, Hampton is the lone man in the Chargers’ backfield. If the Chargers continue using Hampton in the passing game, he has the potential to be one of the top 5 running backs the rest of the season.
Jordan Mason Paces the Vikings Offense
With Aaron Jones on the IR, Jordan Mason took over as the lead back in the Vikings’ backfield in week 3. Mason rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns in the Vikings’ blowout win over the Bengals. Mason looked the part, receiving almost all the running back work before garbage time in the second half. Although the Bengals ‘ defense is weak, it was promising to see Mason receive so much work in his first game as the lead back. If Mason can start to see receiving work, he will be a league winner until Jones returns.
Now, We Look Forward to Week 4
The above-mentioned four players took the league by storm in week 3. However, we can only guess and wait to see if they will continue their success in week 4. The best part of fantasy football predictions 2025 is that we have no idea what will happen week-to-week.
A few players I am looking forward to watching in week four are Patriots’ rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson and Calvin Ridley. Henderson took over the Patriots’ backfield in the fourth quarter after starting running back Rhamondre Stevenson fumbled twice in key spots for the Patriots. Ridley struggled again, but his seven targets show a big-time game is on the horizon.
Check back in next week to see who dominated the NFL field in week 4!
