Fantasy Football Week 8 Breakdown

Week 8 of the NFL 2025 season is officially in the books, and it was another interesting week to say the least. One could say even better than NFL Week 7.

The dreaded “bye-mageddon” hit hard with six teams (Cardinals, Rams, Seahawks, Lions, Jaguars, and Raiders) all off the schedule. That meant fantasy managers everywhere had to bench major stars like Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Puka Nacua, Ashton Jeanty, and Jahmyr Gibbs.

The result? Desperate lineups, ugly matchups, and a whole lot of fantasy frustration. But if you managed to start one of the fantasy football Week 8 heavy hitters, you probably came out on top.

Jonathan Taylor Does it Again

Colts RB Jonathan Taylor is officially back in MVP form.

He rushed 12 times for 153 yards and three total touchdowns against the Titans, posting a league-best 37.4 PPR fantasy points.

It’s the fourth game this season where Taylor’s found the end zone multiple times. He now leads the league with 15 total touchdowns. Simply put: if you drafted him, you’re smiling.

James Cook Runs Wild in Carolina

Bills RB James Cook had the game of his life: 19 carries, 216 yards, and two touchdowns in a 40–9 blowout over the Panthers. His 33.6 PPR points marked a career high and snapped Buffalo’s two-game skid.

The Bills’ offense finally looked fluid again, and Cook’s burst reminded everyone why he’s one of the most dynamic backs in the league.

Saquon Barkley Dominates Former Team

Eagles RB Saquon Barkley took his revenge tour to the next level against the Giants, his former squad.

Barkley exploded for 150 rushing yards, two total touchdowns, and 33.4 PPR points, including a 64-yard score on the Eagles’ opening drive. Though he left late with a minor groin injury, the upcoming Week 9 bye week gives him time to recover before a Week 10 matchup with the Green Bay Packers.

Other Notable Performances

Several unexpected names stepped up when fantasy managers needed them most:

  • Breece Hall (Jets): another monster game, proving he’s matchup-proof.
  • Troy Franklin (Broncos):  breakout performance that put him on the radar.
  • Chase Brown (Bengals): productive and reliable when given touches

Each posted over 25 PPR points, saving fantasy lineups during the brutal bye-week stretch.

National Tight End Day

Week 8 also coincided with National Tight End Day, and the position was delivered.

Packers tight end Tucker Kraft paced the position with 143 yards and two touchdowns. Similarly, Travis Kelce had a vintage game, scoring a touchdown with 99 yards receiving.

Rookie tight ends Oronde Gadsden and Harold Fannin Jr. were next up at the tight end position. Both players scored over 18 fantasy football points to help pace the tight end landscape.

49ers tight end George Kittle, who coined National Tight End Day, scored a touchdown. Eagles’ tight end Dallas Goedert also scored two touchdowns on the day.
